The Irad
State Property of the Fourth Circle | Mekhetim Temple of the Ministry of Science | Enoch-called-Gomorrah
The Temple was detected in late 1994 by Dr. Carlotta Genet of Clan Giovanni as a strange tear in the Shroud. Nights before, the Malkavian prophet Zachary had been dreaming of the anomaly. Independently in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the spirit of Ye-hewei communicated with Nana Kahenta of the Sisterhood about a change in the tapestry of the spirit world. Rose of the Sisterhood would follow Nana’s instruction and her own intuition to find the Temple resting at a convergence of ley lines.
The object was found Obfuscated in a cornfield near Manassas, Va. In the state it was found in, it is only known to be visible to creatures who can perceive the Underworld or the Astral Plane.
The anomaly has been studied by Gwenevieve, Rose, Zachary, Asa and others. It has been determined that it is emitting some form of vampiric Obfuscation and has upon it old wards written in (what appears to be) gibberish Enochian.
The Malkavian Zachary has been able to penetrate the exterior of the Temple via the Dreamscape and has confirmed that the machine is enervated with capillary pipes carrying vitae. He also determined that the blood system appears to be controlled from a sharpened dial and vat in the central chamber. The Giovanni Expedition has set up a black-out tent around and above the Temple with flood lights and cameras posted within.
Ground Floor
Entry Alcove. The area was the first to be visited by any of the player characters. Zachary, Asa and Benjamin appeared here, out of time by a week, following a demonic ritual carried out by the infernalist Brujah Thaïs and the demon Boxcar. Asa (accidentally) learned the power of splashed vitae to open the front doors. When the three tumbled out from the dark closet, they were met by an inquisitive Giovanni and Sister. Gwenevieve and Rose spent the day ensconced in the chamber upon its discovery. The central double door leading to the interior of the Temple has a globe indentation in the seem of the door. Zachary used his Spirit’s Touch to see the golden blood globe used as a key. The key was taken by the Mekhetim leaving the Temple months before.
Opening Chamber. The large stone room is covered in tic marks, which can be filled with blood. The irregularly-shaped chamber is unadorned. Four stone doors, inset with some form of hydraulics, are in each of the four walls of the room. Double doors lead back out to the entry alcove, and another set of double doors lead to the storage bay. Single stone doors are on the walls opposite.
Storage Bay. One of the largest rooms in the complex, the storage bay is filled with rows and rows of shelving and crates, yet is otherwise empty. It appears to be a staging area for wealth extraction, though has yet to see any use.
Defensive Hallway. The long, circular hallway wraps around the central control room. Empty cells line the side walls. A double stone door on the far side of the hallway is the only entrance and exit from the control room.
Control Room. A central dias has upon it a stone pillar with a golden basin set within. The basin has a sharp golden spike, like a sundial, protruding from it. A series of symbols and Enochian numbers are on four other stone consoles, inset with golden buttons and vitae funnels.
Cells. A series of uncomfortable-looking cells line the walls of the defensive hallway surrounding the control room. There are neck manacles set into the walls, so as to fully restrain the fuel/victims being housed here. While none had yet met this fate, there are neck manacles for 100 poor souls. They would have been kept in truly horrifying condition.
Ghoul/Servitor Kitchen. The kitchen includes a galley with Temporis-locked food in refrigerator-like stone chambers, as well as sturdy stone tables. Temporally-locked food remains inside of the chambers: the place was outfitted for a journey with food-eating servitors, but no one ever ate it.
Servitor Storage. This room has rows and rows of Enochian armor, made of a hard, yet light advanced material. The armor has not yet seen battle. There are 30 sets of armor.
Servitor Bunks. This room was meant to house the servitors. There are rows of bunkbeds which could comfortably accommodate 20 people, or more if servitors were to be crammed in.
Cainite Chambers. Four rooms intended for Cainites are along the hallway. Each has a sarcophagus made of advanced material. Some have crates where some Cainites were in the process of “moving in.” Given the opulence and size of the lower rooms, it can be assumed that these upper bedrooms were set aside for lesser Cainite engineers or the like.
Stairways Down. Two sets of grand basalt stairs are in the Refectory. They lead to the Gallery on Sub Level One.
Refectory. A large table is set in the center, as though a place to carry out a War Cabinet. There are cubbies along the wall for scrolls or other material, though the cubbies are empty. There is a giant stone disk standing upright at the far wall.
Sub Level One
Central Shaft / Vitae Pumps. Tubes made of clear advanced chitin-like plastic material carry Cainite vitae from the Control Room above to the Pillar of Irad below. Giant staircases wrap around the sides of the ovular room, leading to the Heart of Irad below.
Large Empty Room. There are marks across the stone walls, two smaller doors on opposide ends of the room and a great double door leading away from the Central Shaft. The double door has the word “Aralu” in Enochian script chiseled above it.
Storage Cabinets. Large space to keep plundered items or supplies. As yet, empty.
Irregularly-Shaped Room. Long chamber has marks across the stone walls and is otherwise unadorned. There are two single doors leading to different areas of the Temple. There is a large double door with the word “Aralu” in Enochian script chiseled above it.
L-Shaped Hallway and Room. The chamber connecting the Large Empty Room and the Gallery has two stone benches and a number of empty display cases along the stone walls, but is otherwise unadorned. Single doors connect the chamber to the Large Empty Room and the Gallery. A grand double door has the word “Aralu” in Enochian script chiseled above it.
Gallery. Works of monstrous sculpture, though exquisitely crafted, dot the room. Some are still in crates in process of being placed. Paintings, some of which unfurled, others wrapped, illustrate scenes from Enochian and pre-Enochian life and mythology.
Stairs Up. The two sets of grand basalt stairs lead from the Gallery up to the Refectory on the ground floor.
Aralu Hallway to Mekhet’s Chambers. The long hallway connects the central shaft of the temple to Mekhet’s wing. There are intricate mosaic inlays of 20 panels, bragging of the supposed exploits of the Antediluvian.
Aralu Hallway to Vait’hara Tuii’s Chambers. A long hallway connects the central shaft of the Temple to Vait’hara Tuii’s wing. There are intricate mosaic inlays of 20 panels, bragging of the supposed exploits of the Antediluvian.
Aralu Hallway to Ashûr’s Chabmers. A long hallway connects the central shaft of the Temple to Ashûr’s wing. The hallway is empty, save for crates of bones never unpacked. There are no mosaics in this Aralu’s hall.
Ashûr’s Ossuary. In lieu of a throne room, it appears Ashûr opted for a room filled with bones. Or, so it would have been. A few crates, still unpacked and still relatively fresh have already been loaded. The bones had been stripped of the dead in Enochian Gomorrah.
Ashûr’s Workshop. A place for refined research in Mortis among the new Astral creatures Ashûr was excited to watch die.
Ashûr’s Cadaver Storage. A place to store specimens for later study. Meet hooks don the walls and there are “part” sized troughs ready for new samples. As yet, the place is empty of “goods.”
Ashûr’s Personal Hallway/Continued Ossuary. The hallway is empty save one crate of bones. This hallway connects Ashûr’s Ossuary, Workshop and Cadaver Storage. A stone door separates the hall from each of those rooms. The stairwell at the end of the hallway leads down to Ashûr’s Sanctum.
Stairways Down. These sets of stairs connect the Chambers of the Aralu on Sub Level One to the Sancta of the Aralu on Sub Level Two.
Mekhet’s Receiving Room. This chamber is largely empty, save for five short pillars in the center of the room. The pillars are uniform in size and material and are arranged in a circle. The pillars are short enough to be sat on, though they appear as though they would be very uncomfortable chairs. The room is otherwise completely unadorned. A door at the other end of the double doors from the Aralu Hallway leads to Mekhet’s Personal Hallway.
Mekhet’s Scriptorium. Rolls and rolls of parchment are prepared, and yet have never been used. The cabinets to store them have blood grooves in the stone, but there is nothing stored there now.
Mekhet’s Workshop. It is a large empty stone room. Whatever was to have filled it never arrived.
Mekhet’s Personal Hallway. The hallway connects Mekhet’s series of rooms to a stairwell down to the Mekhet’s Sanctum.
Vait’hara Tuii’s Receiving Room / Throne Room. A giant throne looms in the center of the room for Vait’ara Tuii to receive supplicants. Behind the throne, there is a door to Vait’hara Tuii’s Personal Hallway and his other chambers.
Vait’hara Tuii’s War Room. Map easels are prepared, yet the room has otherwise been unused.
Vait’hara Tuii’s Store Room. The room is lined with shelves, but is empty. Perhaps it was meant to hold Vait’hara Tuii’s trophies on his travels?
Vait’hara Tuii’s Personal Hallway. This hallway connects Vait’hara Tuii’s chambers to the stairwell leading down to Vait’hara Tuii’s Sanctum. The hallway is filled with colorful mosaics depicting night scenes in Enoch.
Sub Level Two
Pillar of Irad. At the base of the stairs wrapping around the central shaft is a wide, oval room. Tubes descend from the control room above to a glass pillar in the center of the room. Inside this glass pillar is affixed the heart’s blood wyrm creature “Irad” with an ancient wooden stake piercing the center of it. It sits suspended in a vitae bath from the tubes above. A great stone disk, standing up as though a giant mirror with no reflection, is on the other side of the room from where the stairs descend.
Sets of Stairs up to Central Shaft / Vitae Pumps on Sub Level One. These stairs lead from the far side of the room up around the full circumferance of the oval room to Sub Level One above.
Ashûr’s Sanctum. This room was intended to be the resting place of Ashûr. Aside from the raised platform with stone enclosure atop, the room is empty.
Ashûr’s Stair Room. This small room with carved stone double doors is a final security measure between Ashûr’s Sanctum and the floors above.
Stairway up to Ashûr’s Personal Hallway/Continued Ossuary on Sub Level One. These stairs lead from Ashûr’s portion of Sub Level Two to Ashûr’s Chambers on Sub Level One. The floor is littered with bones.
Mekhet’s Sanctum. This room was intended to be the resting place of Mekhet. Aside from the raised platform with stone enclosure atop, the room is empty.
7. Mekhet’s Stair Room. This small room with carved stone double doors is a final security measure between Mekhet’s Sanctum and the floors above.
8. Stairway up to Mekhet’s Personal Hallway on Sub Level One. These stairs lead from Mekhet’s portion of Sub Level Two to Mekhet’s Chambers on Sub Level One.
9. Vait’hara Tuii’s Sanctum. This room was intended to be the resting place of Vait’hara Tuii. There are crates packed full of fine furs and garments.
10. Vait’hara Tuii’s Stair Room. This small room with carved stone double doors is a final security measure between Vait’hara Tuii’s Sanctum and the floors above.
11. Stairway up to Vait’hara Tuii’s Personal Hallway on Sub Level One. These stairs lead from Vait’hara Tuii’s portion of Sub Level Two to Vait’hara Tuii’s Chambers on Sub Level One.
